Opis:
The book Thinking the Conditions of Our Time presents selected Slovenian design projects that are based on the principles of an evolutionarily stable strategy and the practices of a—natural—designer, whose primary design concern is preserving optimal relationships within the existing natural system (that consists of all living beings on the planet). In contrast to the current approach, wherein technology is elevated above nature, the book provides examples that utilise the natural process as the basic design parameter. With the planetary boundaries and the social foundation, the doughnut economy represents a compass for our project (as well as for the entire field of design). It points out the problems we need to start tackling and shows us where to commence with regeneration in order to re-establish the equilibrium we’ve lost. At the same time, it provides criteria for evaluating our actions, both in the field of design and elsewhere. By demonstrating an alternative, we not only expose the shortcomings of the current design approaches, but also offer possibilities for their reform.
