Residency of Prof. Grega Košak
Thanks to a donation from the late Slovenian architect, urban planner, designer, and intellectual Prof. Grega Košak (1932–2023), the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana (UL ALUO) invites foreign students and professionals to participate in its residency programme in Ljubljana in 2027 for a period of one semester.
General information
The Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana (UL ALUO) is inviting artists, designers, restorers, theorists, and researchers from around the world to spend four and a half months living in an apartment in the heart of Ljubljana. The residency provides accommodation in Ljubljana to support research, and artistic and design practice. We welcome applications from individuals with ambitious projects that explore the relationships between spatial, social, and environmental contexts.
This call is aimed at creators and researchers, including PhD students, early-career researchers, and postdoctoral researchers, who work in or are connected to the fields covered by the UL ALUO. Applicants may be individuals or groups of up to four people. Engagement with the UL ALUO teaching programme both before and after the residency is desirable. We welcome applications from all over the world, except Slovenia.

Swiss Government Scholarships for the 2025/26 Academic Year (SERI)
The Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI) is offering various scholarships for students, as well as research grants for doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and young scientists, for the 2025/26 academic year.
The call for applications has been published on the website of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI): www.sbfi.admin.ch/scholarships_eng
Candidates can download the application package from the aforementioned SERI (the documents are located in the ZIP folder titled “ESKAS Application Package 2025-2026”).

Utrecht Network Scholarships for Students and Young Researchers at the University of Ljubljana
The Utrecht Network awards 20 scholarships of €1,200 for short-term research mobility to students or early-career researchers who are not eligible for funding from other programs (such as Erasmus+). The scholarship is intended for research activities related to the preparation of a thesis (which may also include regular lectures) at the master’s or doctoral level. Priority is given to doctoral students. Students organize the mobility themselves at one of the universities that are members of the Utrecht Network. The minimum duration of the mobility period is 4 weeks. The mobility period must begin between May 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027.

Applications must include:
- The Application Form, which can be found at Young Researcher’s Grant 2026 – Utrecht Network
- Cover Letter in English
- A Letter of Recommendation (from a professor at your home institution) in English and
- Certificate of Acceptance into a research project (issued by a visiting professor or a visiting university that is a member of the UN)
students and young researchers should submit their applications by email to urska.ravnik@uni-lj.si and by mail to the University of Ljubljana’s Office for International Cooperation, Kongresni trg 12, 1000 Ljubljana, by February 16, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The University of Ljubljana may nominate up to three students; the final selection will be made by the Utrecht Network, which is expected to announce the results by March 20, 2026.

Scholarships from the AEN (Australia), MAUI (U.S.), and REARI-RJ (Brazil) University Consortiums
As a partner in the Utrecht University Network, the University of Ljubljana offers its students the opportunity to participate in study exchanges at partner institutions for a period of one to two semesters:
- in Australia (AEN)
- in the United States (MAUI)
- in the state of Rio de Janeiro (REARI-RJ)
In addition to the application form, you will also need:
- Transcript of Records for each completed level of study (levels of study) and calculated grade point average (in Slovenian)
- Cover Letter (in English)
