Call for candidates for Student Mobility for Practical training under the ERASMUS+ programme in the academic year 2026/27 has been published.
The call is open until the depletion of funds. The application requires a signed Learning Agreement for Traineeship by the Student, the Employer and the Head of Department (i.e. already agreed and confirmed internship with the selected employer for a certain period).
The period of eligibility for completing an Erasmus+ mobility for traineeship under this call is from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027.
The University of Ljubljana will be accepting applications while the funds are available or no later than 1 July 2027.
The number of approved, funded months of Erasmus+ mobility for study and/or practical training under this call for proposals is limited to a total of 10 months. A student may complete a maximum of 6 months of practical training with the same employer. A student may complete multiple practical training placements with different employers, provided there is a break of at least 10 working days between individual mobility periods. Each subsequent placement is approved only after the previous one has been completed. In addition to an Erasmus+ mobility for practical training, a student may also undertake an Erasmus+ mobility for study purposes during the same academic year, provided that the total funding for both types of mobility is limited to a maximum of 10 months. A doctoral student may not undertake a short-term Erasmus+ mobility for an internship or study at the same organization immediately before or after a long-term Erasmus+ mobility for an internship.
WHAT IS ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP?
The Erasmus+ program enables students, as part of their studies or as recent graduates within 12 months of completing their studies, to undertake practical training at a company or other eligible organization in one of the countries participating in the Erasmus+ program.
The practical training must be related in content to the student’s field of study. Before the mobility begins, the student, the host organization, and the mentor or Erasmus+ coordinator at the home institution confirm the content and conditions of the training by signing the Learning Agreement for Traineeships.
Students who wish to complete a traineeship as RECENT GRADUATES must apply for the call while they still hold valid student status and before completing their studies.
WHO CAN APPLY?
UL students who maintain active student status at their home UL member institution throughout the entire mobility period are eligible to apply, with the exception of graduating students who apply during their final year of study (while they still have student status), mandatorily until the date of graduation and who complete their practical training after graduation, but no later than one year after graduation (bachelor’s or master’s degree) or by the end of the eligible period, which is September 30, 2027. The date of completion of studies is considered to be the defense of the final thesis or the last exam (depending on the member institution), and not the date until which the student retains student status.
To apply for the public call, the applicant must submit an application in accordance with the instructions of the member institution where they are enrolled, at least one month before the start of the mobility period.
DURATION OF ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP?
Each individual practical training placement must last at least 2 months, but may last up to 6 months with the same employer. The total funding for mobility for study and/or practical training under the 2026/2027 call for proposals is limited to a maximum of 10 months. The minimum workload is 25 hours per week.
WHERE CAN YOU GO?
Students are responsible for finding the organization offering the internship on their own. The host organization must have at least three employees. Practical training cannot be completed at organizations or companies with fewer than three employees, including self-employed individuals, independent contractors, freelancers, independent cultural workers, and farmers.
These may include:
- a public or private company with at least three employees (including social enterprises and public authorities at the local, regional, or national level),
- a social partner or other representative of the world of work, including the Chamber of Commerce, trade/professional associations, and labor unions,
- research institutes and educational centers,
- nonprofit organizations and associations, and nongovernmental organizations,
- bodies providing career guidance, professional counseling, and information services.
The countries participating in the Erasmus+ program are: European Union member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey.
Practical training cannot be carried out at:
- institutions and other bodies of the European Union, including specialized agencies;
- organizations that manage EU programs;
- representative offices of Slovenian companies abroad;
- organizations or companies with fewer than three employees, including the self-employed, freelancers, independent cultural workers, and farmers.
Students may not participate in mobility in the country of the sending university, in their country of permanent residence, or in the country of which they are citizens. For the entire duration of the Erasmus+ mobility, the student must reside abroad, specifically in an eligible program country where they are completing their practical training. Interruptions and early terminations of mobility must be approved in advance by the University Office for International Cooperation and are permitted only for valid reasons or in cases of force majeure. If the mobility is interrupted before 60 days have elapsed, the student must, as a rule, return the entire Erasmus+ grant received, except in cases of force majeure. A student who arbitrarily terminates the mobility period without prior approval may not reapply for a practical training placement with another employer under this call for applications.
FINANCIAL GRANT*
700 € – 824 €/month
*The call also allows for specific additional funding. In the event that the funds allocated by the UL are not sufficient to co-finance all confirmed applications, the UL may impose funding restrictions in a given academic year. All selected students will be informed in due time of any restrictions.
TRAVEL ALLOWANCE
Under this call for applications, students are also eligible for a travel allowance, the amount of which depends on the distance between the location of the sending organization (Ljubljana) and the location of the host organization’s headquarters, as well as the mode of travel (eco-friendly or not). The EU Distance Calculator (https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/resources-and-tools/distance-calculator) is used to calculate the distance. ONLY THE ONE-WAY DISTANCE TO THE MOBILITY DESTINATION IS TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
A higher amount will be awarded to students who travel to and from the mobility destination using low-emission modes of transportation, such as buses, trains, other group transportation services like GoOpti or Nomago, and/or bicycles. Cars, carpooling, motorcycles, airplanes, and boats are not considered low-emission modes of transportation. The difference between standard travel and green travel will be paid to the student upon completion of the mobility period, upon submission of appropriate proof of the mode of travel and a signed affidavit. Students may be granted up to an additional 6 funded days (up to 3 in each direction of travel) for a green trip if the supporting documents show that they actually needed the additional days to complete the green trip (as evidenced by the submitted tickets).
Students are encouraged to use green transportation for journeys shorter than 500 km. There is a special Erasmus+ Interrail pass offer available for Erasmus+ students.
APPLICATION
Students wishing to go on practical training abroad as an “Erasmus+ student” must submit their application via VIS, at LEAST ONE MONTH before the start of the mobility.
- The application can be found in the section APPLICATION FOR EXCHANGE / ERASMUS+ Exchange for Traineeships in the 2026/27 academic year.
- The application must include the Learning Agreement for Erasmus+ Traineeships, which has already been approved and signed by the employer, the department chair, and the student.
- It must also include a letter of motivation in which the student explains how the internship relates to their studies, its contribution to their further education or employability, and describes the host organization and the department where they will be completing the internship.
Students can only apply for the period of mobility for which they prove at the time of application that they have student status for the entire period, with the exception of young graduates who must apply before the end of their studies. The status of the applicant, whether going on placement as a student with full mobility status or as a young graduate, may not change during the mobility.(If the student is not yet able to obtain a certificate of enrolment at the time of registration, a certificate of eligibility for the following academic year issued by the Student Office will suffice.)

The complete VISUL online application for Erasmus+ financial support for practical training must be submitted by the student at least 10 working days before the start of the mobility and is a condition for the Erasmus+ financial support to be granted.
