Prof. Domen Fras

Domen Fras is a graphic designer and typographer who feels great among students, especially when he passes on knowledge of typography and typefaces – the fields of his practice, study and research. www.fras.si www.aparat.org  

Education

  • 1998: graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana
  • 2000: received his master’s degree from Central Saint Martins University of the Arts London
 

Professional experience

  • 2019 visiting professor at Umjetnička akademija u Splitu, Croatia
  • 2017 employed at Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Univeristy of Ljubljana, associate professor
  • 2011 employed at Faculty of Natural sciences, University of Ljubljana, assitant professor
  • 2002: co-founded the Trajekt Institute for Spatial Culture
  • 2001-2011: self-employed person in culture, established the Aparat type & design studio
  • 2000–: In two decades of intensive design practice, he has participated in numerous public and cultural projects in various media linking architectural, graphic and typographic design, some of which have been awarded.
He complements his teaching with organizing international summer schools, mentoring Tipo Brda typographic workshops, and conducting educational workshops.
