Selvaraj Thirumalini: Indian heritage and organic lime mortars

The Department for Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, UL invites you to a lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selvaraj Thirumalini from Vellore Institute of Technology. The lecture, entitled The Indian Heritage and organic lime mortars, will take place on Monday, 14 March, at 11.00 (Tobačna 5, Ljubljana).

Dr. S. Thirumalini is Head of the Heritage Research Lab at VIT University. Her primary scientific research area is the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage objects. She has long experience in investigation of traditional building materials using analytical techniques such as XRD, XRF, SEM, TGA with DTA, FT-IR, carbonation and self-healing studies using organic lime mortars with emphasis on optimization of lime mortar products. She is an active member of RILEM – International Federation of Laboratories and Experts in Building Materials and Indian Society of Earthquake Engineering.

We will be also joined by Dr Sabina Kramar from the Slovenian National building and civil engineering institute.

The lecture will be held in English.
