International Summer School Second Score
11.07.2024
The International Summer School of Performative Methods and Improvisation Techniques in Visual Arts Second Score, which will take place at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (UL ALUO) from 9 to 13 September 2024, is intended for students of both domestic and foreign art academies who wish to expand their creative practices by connecting and intertwining various media, approaches, and methods of work.
The summer school combines visual creation and the performing arts of performance, movement, and sound, with an emphasis on improvisation techniques. As we know, these techniques are based on notations and scores as guidelines and frameworks within which the exploration of possibilities and the possibilities of exploration are practised.
Initially, a simple set of scores will be provided, which participants will individually or collectively enhance into complex situations and consequently new scores and notations through execution, revision, and repetition. Attention will be paid to both visual articulation and the performative aesthetics of the created works, scenes, and scenarios. Participants will become acquainted with the practice through active debate and demonstrations by guest artists in the fields of improvisation in performing and musical arts, movement, and sound.
The school will be led by Andreja Podrzavnik and Tomaž Grom.
