Kaverljag: Marine organisms for the blind and partially sighted
Kaverljag International Summer School
Marine organisms for the blind and partially sighted
International workshop of visual communication
During the seven-day workshop in July 2024, our work will focus on exploring the field from both a theoretical and practical point of view, consultations with the target group and experts in the field; scientific illustration, study drawings, graphic techniques, graphic design, typography, three-dimensional models, excursions and expert lectures both in the field of visual communication and the topic at hand. Illustrated materials for the blind and visually impaired are rare, and our work aims to broaden the range of accessible content for this vulnerable group. Academy of Fine Arts and Design (UL ALUO) and partner academies from abroad, as well as the Kaverljag Association, are joined in the initiative to implement the project by the National Institute of Biology, the Marine Biological Station Piran, the Centre of Illustration, the Slovenian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted and the Koper Inter-Municipal Association for the Blind and Partially Sighted.
