Domen Fras is a graphic designer and typographer with more than 20 years of practice. He graduated at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana (1998) and completed his master’s degree at Central Saint Martins in London (2000).
He is the founder (2001) and head of Aparat type&design, co-founder of the Trajekt Institute, a mentor at several international typographic workshops organised by Tipo Brda, a member of ATypI and a presenter at the Barcelona Conference (2014).
For his design creations, he received several national awards (the Most Beautiful Slovenian Book 2008, Excellence Recognition BVSS 2005, 2009, 2013, 2015 and Jury Recognition BVSS 2015).
Since 2016, Domen Fras has been an associate professor of visual-communication design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana. He enjoys his time with the students, especially when lecturing on typography and typefaces – the areas of his practical work and research.
