At the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana (UL ALUO), we express our support and solidarity with the Palestinian people, upon whom the Israeli state is committing genocide. According to United Nations data, in the first four months of the aggression in Gaza alone, more children died than in the previous four years combined in all conflicts worldwide. In the last six months, nearly seven, the genocide by Israel in the Gaza region has already claimed more than 35,000 lives, of which more than 14,500 are children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
We express our support and solidarity with the bleeding Palestinian people! We demand freedom and security for the Palestinian people and the immediate cessation of Israeli apartheid and aggression. We call on the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to follow the demands of the Palestinian people and immediately recognise Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.<\/p>\n
We also express our support and solidarity with activists who strongly condemn the genocide of the Israeli state against the Palestinian people, and we oppose the persecution, oppression, and censorship they experience due to their struggle.<\/p>\n
We also express our full support and solidarity with the female and male students, professors, and all members of the academic community who, both at home and at numerous universities around the world, in peaceful protests for just and humane goals, oppose financial and military support from the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, and some other countries which stand by the Israeli state and enable the continuation of the genocide against the Palestinian people. Protesters rightly demand the severance of financial ties of universities with corporations that economically benefit from this war. We also express opposition to the decisions of the management of some foreign universities to send police forces against the female and male student protesters!<\/p>\n
As an academic community, we must fight against all causes of wars to prevent them in the future. As an academic community, we can, and must, help Palestinian students, professors, researchers, artists, just as we have helped Ukrainian ones, so they can continue to perform educational, artistic, and research work in EU countries until it is again possible to do such work in a free Palestine.<\/p>\n
From the start of the Israeli state’s military attack on the innocent Palestinian people, the Academy has been doing its utmost to support and establish contacts with Palestinian artists and promote their artworks through its channels.<\/p>\n
